This work is a picturesque flowing scene of both vignette details and grand, universal themes in an ocean of intellectual energy generally summarised as nature versus future. Devoted to Claire, his partner, the central figure is a graceful damsel in control of the division which marks the gradient between the sepia segment and the coloured fictions of the crystal future. More concerned with dreaming than time however, the work flows from our greatest wells of human inspiration and constructs signs of an alternative society within the self that has characters with vantage and relevance. The work is done in a framework of pencil and conte pastel, finished in watercolour and precious inks, on cream-white Arches paper.
